A Winter Driving Hazard

By December 16, 2016June 8th, 2021Information, Insurance

car-sliding-down-icy-hillHere is western Pennsylvania, the local meteorologists are calling for a winter storm watch that includes sleet, freezing rain and snow. They are predicting a quarter inch of ice before the storm is over. So the question becomes, “what should I do if I slide down an icy hill and hit parked cars along the way?”

Well, we hope that doesn’t happen to anyone, but unfortunately, winter ice storms cause serious road conditions and accidents.

E. R. Munro and Company recommends that if you do slide into parked cars when roads are icy, do whatever you can to contact the owners of the parked cars.

Leave notes on their cars with your contact and insurance information and write down their license plate numbers. Your collision coverage will pay for damage to your vehicle and your auto insurance liability coverage will pay for damage to the other cars.

If the situation were reversed and someone hit your parked car but did not leave information, your uninsured motorist coverage would pay for the damage.

If you have any questions about auto insurance coverage, please contact E. R. Munro and Company at 1-877-376-8676 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
