Back to School Safety Tips

With school starting in just over a month, talk to your children and spouse about these safety tips:

Tip #1: Be on alert when driving in school zones, near bus stops and past crossing guards. Slow down when you see children walking to and from school and to and from after-school activities.

Tip #2: Remind your children to follow safety rules while on the bus and at the bus stop.

Tip #3: Urge your children to look both ways when crossing the street, especially if a crossing guard is not present.

Tip #4: Re-evaluate the safety and liability exposures in your own backyard, especially if your children are spending their after-school hours with an adult (not you or your spouse) or teenage caregiver.

Tip #5: Make sure the items that are loaned to your children by the school, such as laptops and musical instruments, are covered by insurance in the event of a loss or theft.
