With many children heading back to brick and mortar schools in the next several weeks, parents should talk to them about these safety tips:
- Be on alert when walking in school zones and near bus stops. Drivers don’t always heed warning signs.
- Remind your children to follow safety rules while on the bus and at the bus stop.
- Urge your children to look both ways when crossing the street, especially if a crossing guard is not present.
- Re-evaluate the safety and liability exposures in your own backyard, especially if y our children are spending their after-school hours with an adult (not you or your spouse) or teenage caregiver.
- Make sure the items that are loaned to your children by the school, such as laptops and musical instruments, are covered by insurance in the event of a loss or theft.
