Rock ‘n Roll Auction Hits Big Numbers in UK

A collection of seven vinyl albums and 25 singles by the Rolling Stones stunned auctioneers in the United Kingdom after selling for £720 (pounds or $1,216.80 U.S.) at an antique auction on May 2. Auctioneers were expecting the collection to sell for between £200 ($338.88 U.S.) to £300 ($508.32 U.S.)

The collector purchased the debut album, Rolling Stones (1964), Rolling Stones No. 2 (1965), Aftermath (1966), Satanic Majesties Request (1967), Beggars Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969) and Sticky Fingers (1971) and the 25 singles.

To put it in perspective, in 1964, albums typically cost between $5.99 to $6.99 in the U.S.

Any auctioneer out there ever handle an auction that included an album collection like this?
